Judy's oil painting of Sean and me

I'm held by my brother and painted by my rather talented Auntie Judy.
This painting has been in my parents room all my life.
When I photographed it recently it dawned on me
how special it is that Judy painted us.
... Thanks Judy, this is awesome! ...

'T:H:E H:E:R:E A:N:D N:O:W'

'T:H:E H:E:R:E A:N:D N:O:W', originally uploaded by insane jane.

At long last I started a photo class. Our homework is to make a portrait with character. Mmm so I cast my mind back to my favourite portrait shots and this one pops up ... taken in the City Palace in Udaipur, India 2 years ago.

A timely reminder of how much easier life is when it is lived in the present, with love.

and what I wrote back then ...

Beauty is what you see ... or at least what you have opened your mind to.

A small journey has taken me quarter of the way around the planet. I've been on a magical journey. To a land of extremes with a culture that lives in the here and now.

Living for the moment for that is what you have.

Not tied up in worrying about tomorrow or regretting the past. Knowing that what karma you put out into the world will come back to you one way or another.

People wave at you when you wave at them.
Smiles are all around.
Love and peace are natural.

Om Shanti

Om Shanti my friend

Marcus Van Veen you were an amazing man
gone now to a peaceful place
I wish you well and send you love
with a healthy dose of magical fairy dust
You will always remind me that the small things you do
can make a big difference to those around you
Resonating like the butterfly effect
Those ripples that turn to tsunami's
I thought you were like a big old tree
destined to stand the test of time
But you left us as
a philosopher would

Now you will always be in our memories
reminding us to be strong and free
To share love and goodness, treating everyone we meet
with dignity, humility and respect
You big softie you will be sorely missed
and fondly remembered.
Peace be with you
Om Shanti my friend

That beautiful purple gave me a big smile.

Oh now there is a lovely memory ... Glastonbury rocked!
When this lovely pink lady saw me dressed in matching colours she asked me if I would like a ride!
But of course, with gratitude and delight I enjoyed a short showfur! :o)
When I look at this now, I think we could have been old friends hanging out for a long time.
Just sharing the pink goodness we were.
Bring on more Glastonbury love.

When I see this it reminds me how blissful I can feel
when I rise above the madness of the moment.
Soak in some tranquility.
And now I venture off for recommendations and celebrations.

Moodjam

Cool here's a bit of fun ... www.moodjam.org
colour by mood ... some nice doors to be opened here.
and a nice reminder ... today's thought ...

Self Manage

There is a huge hole in the heart of all our educations.
It is where the skills and abilities of self-management should be.

No one teaches us how to manage our thoughts, feelings, attitudes and behaviour, so we find it hard to manage the four Rs – relationships, roles, responsibilities and resources.

So let’s get started. Consciously choose the quality of your thoughts today – accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative and clean up the waste.
Everything, which means everything in your life, begins with your thoughts.

Thought for today

Introversion
The ability to enjoy one's own company
is one of the greatest gifts life has to offer.

Learning to turn my thoughts away from
all my responsibilities at the day's

end and take my mind into a state of peace
and benevolence enables me to carry greater

and greater loads without feeling the burden.

When my inner landscape is full of beautiful thoughts,
everything I do is a pleasure.

Gently, I calm down chaotic situations
and offer solace to troubled minds.

To cheese or not to cheese

Being a bit of a pizza lover ... and a bit of a lazy wee soul on random but relatively infrequent occassions I got a pizza delivered. The order was called in for my vegan pizza which was made via the "make your own" options which obviously did not include cheese.

When the pizza turned up what do you know it had cheese on it. So I called the pizza house back to ask for a replacement ... they asked me what I would like I told them I would like what I ordered.

20 minutes later my vegan pizza turned up with two pieces of complimentary cheese cake.

I laughed at the irony and pouted that I could not scoff the yummy looking cake.
